Erin Foster, creator of Netflix’s Nobody Wants This, has responded to comments by actor Adam Brody expressing support for a free Palestine and describing the situation in Gaza as genocide.

Brody, who portrays a Jewish rabbi in the series, shared his views during an interview with GQ. Discussing Israel and Palestine, he said, “Put me down as thinking it’s a genocide. Put me down as wanting a free Palestine.”

Foster, who has publicly expressed support for Israel, addressed the comments in an upcoming episode of the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, scheduled to debut on October 27, 2026.

“You know, it’s complicated. I think our work environment, our set is very similar to dinner tables around the world where people are having debate and discussion and disagreeing,” Foster said. “And you know, while I love Adam, I also disagree with him. And that’s okay.”

She also emphasised the importance of Jewish representation in television, explaining that the series was created to celebrate Judaism and her personal experiences within the faith.

“I think that as the creator of the show, all I can say is that I want our Jewish fans to know that I see you and I hear you and I understand how you feel,” she said.

Foster added that the series has always been intended as “a love letter to Judaism”, highlighting what she described as the importance of positive Jewish representation.

“That being said, everyone is entitled to a different opinion than me,” she said, reiterating that viewers should understand the creative intentions behind the programme.

Brody’s comments have also drawn reactions from others associated with the series, prompting further discussion about differing political perspectives within the production.
