Pop singer Slayyyter, whose real name is Catherine Garner, is facing renewed criticism after old social media posts containing racial slurs resurfaced online, prompting the artist to defend herself against the backlash.
The 30-year-old singer addressed the controversy in a post on her private X account, saying, "Everyone is trying to re-cancel me over things and behaviors from my high school days."
She added, "How many times do I have to say that I'm not that kind of person anymore and that I haven't been like that for over 15 years?"

The renewed scrutiny follows the circulation of screenshots allegedly taken from a Camila Cabello fan account that some users believed Slayyyter operated during her teenage years.
In January 2020, Billboard reported that the singer had taken "full accountability" for her previous posts.
In an open letter published on January 10, she acknowledged the offensive language and said she had used the words despite knowing they were slurs.
At the time, Slayyyter pledged to donate proceeds from vinyl and CD sales to charities supporting the Black LGBTQ+ community.
Her latest response has divided fans. Some critics argue that her comments appear dismissive of the harm caused by racism, while supporters say she has previously apologised and deserves recognition for personal growth.
The controversy comes as Slayyyter gains wider recognition. Her 2026 album, Worst Girl in America, reached No. 1 on Billboard's Top Dance Albums chart, helping expand her audience.
Her next project, Worst Man in America, is scheduled for release on December 4, 2026.
