The mystery surrounding the alleged abduction of two children of a senior Grade-21 government officer from Hayatabad, an upscale locality of Peshawar, remained unresolved a week after the incident. However, investigators have made a significant breakthrough with the recovery of the officer's vehicle, which the alleged kidnappers had taken away.
According to official sources, unidentified men allegedly abducted the two children of Ikramullah Khan from his residence in Hayatabad last week before fleeing with his official vehicle. The vehicle has now been recovered from Kohat Road in Peshawar.
Police and other investigation agencies have expanded the scope of their investigation, with four special teams working on different aspects of the case to secure the children's safe recovery and arrest those involved.
Officials said houses in the vicinity of the officer's residence had also been checked to gather possible evidence and trace the suspects' movements before and after the incident.
Meanwhile, investigators are using modern technology, including geo-fencing, to identify suspicious individuals present in the area at the time of the alleged abduction and trace possible communications linked to the crime.
The recovery of the vehicle has provided investigators with a new lead, and various angles are being examined to identify the suspects and establish their whereabouts, officials said.
A case has been registered at Hayatabad police station. However, no definitive breakthrough has yet been reported regarding the recovery of the children or the arrest of the alleged kidnappers.
