K-P orders review of all ongoing procurements

PESHAWAR:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary's office has issued a directive to all administrative secretaries and heads of attached departments, ordering a thorough review of every ongoing official procurement process across the province.

According to the letter, all departments have been instructed to examine current matters relating to the purchase of government goods, execution of construction works and acquisition of services. The review must be conducted in line with departmental requirements, established priorities and the relevant rules and regulations governing public procurement.

Each case will be assessed individually on the basis of genuine need and merit. Special emphasis has been placed on verifying the availability of funds, ensuring full compliance with legal requirements and maintaining complete transparency throughout the process.

The effective utilisation of government resources and the protection of public interest have been declared the fundamental considerations in the exercise.

The directive covers every stage of procurement, from initiation and scrutiny to formal review and final approval. Administrative secretaries have been made responsible for ensuring that the review is carried out not only in their parent departments but also in all attached directorates as well as divisional and district offices under their administrative control.

Further proceedings on any ongoing procurement will depend strictly on the findings of the review and will remain subject to the applicable legal and regulatory framework. The overarching purpose of the Chief Secretary's communication is to reinforce transparency, strict adherence to rules and the primacy of public interest in government procurement activities.
