Tree transplantation orchard opened
Pakistan's first tree transplantation orchard has opened to the public at Bagh-e-Jinnah in Faisalabad, where 166 trees aged between 30 and 60 years have been transplanted to make way for the Metro Bus project.
Commissioner Faisalabad Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh visited the orchard and inspected the transplanted trees.
Congratulating the citizens on the establishment of the orchard, the commissioner said similar facilities were being developed at Kaleem Shaheed Park and Iqbal Park (Dhobi Ghat Ground).
He said 59 trees had been transplanted at Kaleem Shaheed Park and 127 at Iqbal Park so far.
Of the 795 trees identified for relocation along the Metro Bus routes, 352 had been transplanted to the three orchards, while work on relocating the remaining trees was under way, he added.
Dr Sheikh appreciated the efforts of the Horticulture Agency and the Save the Plant organisation and urged residents to visit the orchard with their families.
