Shrek 2 Remastered announced with trailer parodying GTA 6 marketing
Shrek 2 Remastered has been officially announced by developer Aspyr, with a reveal trailer that parodies the cinematic marketing style of Grand Theft Auto 6.
The remaster of the 2004 action-adventure platformer will launch on November 10 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X.
The game first attracted attention last month following an achievement leak, before an early Xbox Store listing revealed details about its planned improvements.
Originally developed by Luxoflux and published by Activision, Shrek 2 is based on DreamWorks Animation’s 2004 film.
The game takes players through familiar locations, including Shrek’s swamp, Fiona’s castle and the kingdom of Far Far Away. Alongside scenes inspired by the film, the adventure features additional sequences created specifically for the game.
Players can control Shrek and other familiar characters, including Fiona and Donkey, as they battle enemies and complete platforming challenges.
The original release supported local cooperative play for up to four players, allowing friends to play together on the same system.
The remastered edition introduces several upgrades designed for modern hardware. These include improved textures, an enhanced user interface, upgraded cutscenes and support for 4K resolution.
Players will also have access to a new Photo Mode and a Cheat Mode, offering additional ways to customise their experience.
One of the most notable additions is online co-op. While the original game limited cooperative play to local multiplayer, the remaster will allow up to four players to team up online.
The announcement also arrives ahead of the planned release of Shrek 5 in 2027.
