Rs2b facelift for Korangi industrial area
City Mayor Murtaza Wahab on Tuesday launched Rs2 billion infrastructure rehabilitation works in the Korangi Industrial Area, pledging improved facilities for businesses and faster execution of development projects across the metropolis.
Addressing a ceremony organised by the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), Wahab said industrial zones were vital to Pakistan's economy and that upgrading their infrastructure would help promote commercial activity.
He said Rs68 billion was being spent on improving Karachi's infrastructure, while 149 new roads would be built across the city.
The government was also working with the private sector to accelerate development schemes and improve commuting facilities, he added.
The mayor said tenders for several projects had been completed, while those for others were expected to be finalised within three to four days.
