Actor and singer Samar Jafri cancelled his much-anticipated performance in Hyderabad after crowd misbehaviour and growing safety concerns forced him to make what he described as a difficult decision.
In an official statement, Jafri’s management said the performer had been looking forward to meeting his fans and delivering a memorable evening. However, concerns about the crowd’s behaviour and the potential risks to attendees ultimately led to the cancellation.
According to the statement, the situation raised concerns about potential harassment, particularly of women, as well as the risk of overcrowding or a stampede.
“Samar was genuinely excited to perform for his fans in Hyderabad. However, due to crowd misbehaviour and growing safety concerns at the venue, Samar made the difficult decision to call off the show to prevent potential harassment, particularly towards women, and to avoid the risk of overcrowding or a stampede,” the management said.
Emphasising the importance of prioritising public safety at live events, the team added, “The safety and well-being of everyone present must always come first.”
The statement also stressed that event organisers were responsible for ensuring that venues and arrangements met the necessary safety standards. “Organisers must make this their foremost priority and ensure that every arrangement at the venue is up to that standard,” the team said.
The management apologised to disappointed fans, saying, “We sincerely apologise to everyone who was looking forward to the performance and thank you for your understanding.”
The statement was signed by Team Samar Jafri.
Following the announcement, Jafri shared a video from the event, accompanied by a personal message to his Hyderabad fans. Expressing disappointment over how the evening had unfolded, he said he had arrived with genuine excitement and hoped to share a special experience with his audience.
“Hyderabad, I was genuinely excited to perform for you. I came here looking forward to sharing a special evening with you all, and it genuinely hurts that things unfolded the way they did,” he said.
Explaining his decision, Jafri reiterated that the crowd’s behaviour and the resulting safety concerns had left him with little choice but to call off the show.
“Unfortunately, due to the crowd’s behaviour and growing safety concerns, I made the difficult decision to call off the show. I couldn’t risk anyone’s safety, especially the girls and kids in the audience, or allow the situation to escalate into something more serious.”
He stressed that, despite his eagerness to perform, the audience’s well-being had to take precedence.
“As much as I wanted to get on that stage, the safety and well-being of everyone present had to come first,” he continued.
Jafri also apologised to those who had attended the event expecting an enjoyable evening, acknowledging their disappointment over the abrupt cancellation.
“To everyone who came with love, excitement, and the intention of having a good time, I’m truly sorry things didn’t go as we had hoped. This isn’t how I imagined my time in Hyderabad, and I hope you understand why this decision had to be made.”
Thanking those who had supported him and his team, the performer expressed hope that he would return to Hyderabad for a more positive experience in the future.
“Thank you to everyone who stood by us. I hope we get to share a better, safer, and more beautiful evening together someday,” he concluded.
Jafri is a Pakistani actor, singer and composer who has established a presence in the country’s entertainment industry through his work in television, film and music.
He gained wider recognition through the 2025 television drama Parwarish and the recent Express Entertainment thriller Raja London Ka.
His work across acting and music has helped him build a following beyond television, with live performances giving fans an opportunity to connect with him in person.
As Jafri expressed hope of sharing a better experience with his Hyderabad fans in the future, the cancellation highlighted the importance of safety at live events. While performances can be rescheduled and opportunities to connect with audiences created again, the well-being of everyone at a venue must remain the priority.
