K/DA returns after six years with new single FIRESTARTER

Riot Games’ virtual girl group K/DA has released FIRESTARTER, its first new music since 2020 EP ALL OUT

Riot Games’ virtual girl group K/DA has returned with FIRESTARTER, marking its first new music in approximately six years. The group released the single and its official music video on October 19, ahead of an upcoming EP of the same name scheduled for October 21.

The new track features returning vocalists Miyeon and Soyeon of (G)I-DLE, who previously provided the voices for K/DA characters Ahri and Akali, respectively.

They are joined by Canadian singer Sophie Powers and British singer Mimi Webb as featured artists.

The music video was produced in collaboration with French animation studio Fortiche, known for its work on Netflix’s Arcane. The studio previously worked with K/DA on the group’s debut single, POP/STARS, released in 2018.

Choreographer Sean Bankhead, whose previous work includes projects with Beyoncé and BLACKPINK, directed the choreography for the new video.

K/DA comprises four League of Legends champions: Ahri, Akali, Evelynn and Kai’Sa. The virtual group debuted during the 2018 League of Legends World Championship Finals in Incheon, South Korea, performing POP/STARS.

In 2020, K/DA released the singles THE BADDEST and MORE before launching its five-track EP ALL OUT in November. The collection included both singles alongside VILLAIN, DRUM GO DUM and I’LL SHOW YOU.

The group subsequently went on an extended hiatus without releasing new music. FIRESTARTER marks its first musical release since ALL OUT and introduces a new chapter for the League of Legends characters’ music project.

The upcoming FIRESTARTER EP is scheduled to arrive on October 21, with pre-saves available through K/DA’s official channels.
