Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh on Friday emphasised that Pakistan offered significant opportunities for investment, trade and business partnerships across a range of sectors, urging Pakistani-Americans to translate the "opportunity offered by the current ascendant trajectory of Pak-US relations into mutually rewarding economic engagement."

According to a press release by the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington, DC, Ambassador Sheikh attended a community event in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area, urging the Pakistani-American community to "lead the way and profit from deepening economic engagement between Pakistan and the US."

Addressing members of the Pakistani-American community, the release noted that Sheikh "highlighted the community’s unique role as a bridge between Pakistan and the United States." He "underscored longstanding and consequential relations between Pakistan and the United States," citing "important contributions of the Pakistani-American community in strengthening these ties."

Sheikh "underscored the enduring connection of the community with its motherland Pakistan," the release noted, adding that the ambassador "urged Pakistani-Americans to use their professional and business networks to showcase Pakistan’s investment potential, promote futuristically enduring partnerships and expand bilateral trade and investments," highlighting the IT sector in particular.

The ambassador further reaffirmed the embassy's "readiness to facilitate greater interaction between Pakistani and American businesses," while encouraging the community "to work collectively to advance mutually beneficial economic ties between Pakistan and the United States."

The event was attended by representatives of major Pakistani-American organisations of the Greater San Francisco Bay Area, the release noted. It added that community representatives expressed their gratitude towards Sheikh for his participation, appreciating the embassy’s efforts to strengthen Pakistan-US relations.

The representatives also thanked the consulate general of Pakistan in Los Angeles for facilitating consular services for the Pakistani-American community in the area.
