Imaan, husband challenge jail trial
Witness records statement in barrier removal case

RAWALPINDI:
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday recorded the statement of another prosecution witness in a case registered against human rights lawyer Imaan Mazari and her husband, Hadi Ali Chattha, over alleged removal of barriers.
ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra conducted the hearing in a courtroom inside Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail, where both accused are currently detained.
During the proceedings, the defence filed applications seeking an adjournment. It also raised objections to the trial being held inside the jail. The lawyers also presented arguments on miscellaneous applications. The court adjourned further proceedings until October 19.
The case pertains to the alleged disruption of a security route of an international cricket team and incitement to public unrest. Imaan and her husband have been accused of removing barriers from the route. The couple was indicted in the case on October 7.
