Hockey goalkeeping camp launched

Fifteen goalies begin specialised training under Bob Veldhof

Pakistan on Friday launched a seven-day hockey goalkeeping training camp for 15 junior and senior goalies in Islamabad.

The camp aims to improve goalkeeping standard in the country.

The camp is being held at Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium under Dutch coach Bob Veldhof, with a specialist goalkeeping coach overseeing sessions focused on modern techniques.

The programme includes morning and evening sessions covering technical skills, physical fitness and mental confidence, Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) said.

The PHF spokesperson said the camp aims to strengthen national team's defence and prepare goalkeepers for the demands of modern hockey.

Pakistan have been facing defence issues in recent years and a strong goalkeeping department can bring improvement at the back-end.
