KARACHI:

A Judicial Commission investigating the death of young entrepreneur Mir Raza Ali has submitted its report to the Sindh government after conducting 15 hearings to examine the circumstances surrounding his death and possible lapses in the police investigation.

The one-member commission, headed by Justice Umar Sial, was mandated to probe allegations of evidence tampering, negligence and violations of the law under terms of reference set by the provincial govt.

During its proceedings, the commission recorded statements from former IOs, senior police officials, medical experts and other relevant individuals. It also heard Mir Raza's father, Mir Hussain Ali Khan, his mother, Maryam Hussain, and other concerned parties.

Murder charges were added to the case following a second post-mortem examination. Discrepancies between medical reports and questions about the procedures followed during the examinations also came under scrutiny.

The commission's sealed report was handed over to Additional Secretary of the Home Department Javed Abro by the commission's staff. The report comprises four volumes and includes five sealed envelopes containing recorded statements, along with two separate envelopes.
