Aviation systems to be upgraded

ISLAMABAD:
The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has signed two agreements to improve aviation safety and modernise air navigation and communication systems, including the installation of a wind-shear alert system at Islamabad International Airport.
According to the PAA, the wind-shear alert system will be installed at a cost of Rs254 million, with the project expected to be completed within six months. The system will help detect sudden changes in wind speed and direction, enabling timely alerts to support safer aircraft operations at the airport.
Under the second agreement, the PAA will acquire advanced equipment to test aviation radio systems. The new equipment is expected to improve the performance and reliability of communication links between aircraft and air traffic control.
Moreover, the authority had launched a project to install modern air traffic management and voice communication systems at Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) in Karachi and Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore.
