PESHAWAR:

Authorities have ordered the withdrawal of 48 police personnel and the security squad deployed at the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chief minister's residence in Peshawar following the removal of security in-charge Arif Khattak, according to sources.

The personnel stationed at the Chief Minister's House have been directed to report immediately to the Special Branch headquarters, while the security squad assigned to Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has also been withdrawn from the premises.

Sources said the decision to recall the personnel was taken after Khattak was relieved of his responsibilities as security in-charge. The reasons behind Khattak's removal and the sudden withdrawal of security personnel were not immediately clear.
