ISLAMABAD:

Four youths were killed when a landmine, which had reportedly drifted from the Indian side into Pakistan exploded accidentally near the Line of Control (LoC) in Mahandla Madarpur village of Poonch in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to initial reports, the youths had gone to repair a water pipeline near a local spring when the explosion occurred, killing all four instantly. The deceased were identified as Faizan Sagheer, Ishtiaq, Asim Rafiq and Waqas Sharif.

The incident plunged the area into mourning. Landmines drifting across the LoC pose persistent risks to civilians and livestock in nearby settlements.
