Swedish pop star Zara Larsson has partnered with California-based luxury grocery chain Erewhon to launch a limited-edition smoothie supporting the work of the Malala Fund, the nonprofit co-founded by Pakistani Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai and her father, Ziauddin Yousafzai.

Larsson announced the collaboration on Instagram, sharing a photo dump in partnership with the Los Angeles-based grocery chain.

Named the Midnight Sun Smoothie after Larsson’s album of the same name, the drink draws inspiration from the singer’s musical identity while bringing a girls’ education initiative into the celebrity food collaboration.

“The Midnight Sun Smoothie by Zara Larsson. Inspired by her album, Midnight Sun, this free-spirited blend captures the essence of an eternal summer, layering organic fruits and organic coconut cream into a smoothie reminiscent of a tropical sunset,” Erewhon said in the product description.

According to Erewhon’s product listing, the 20-ounce drink combines coconut milk, dragon fruit punch, blueberries, banana, strawberries, mango and pineapple. Other ingredients include coconut water, carrot juice, colostrum, whey protein, grass-fed collagen, spirulina, lion’s mane and cordyceps.

The collaboration also supports the Malala Fund’s mission to secure every girl’s right to 12 years of free, safe and quality education. “With this smoothie, Erewhon proudly supports Malala Fund — a nonprofit founded by Malala Yousafzai and her father to drive sustainable change toward every girl’s right to 12 years of free, safe, quality education,” the company said.

The limited-edition smoothie launched on October 8 and is available at Erewhon locations across Southern California and at its Manhattan tonic bar in New York. Priced at $21, it is scheduled to remain on sale until November 7. Customers in Manhattan can also order it through Uber Eats and Postmates.

Hydration brand ROAR Organic is also involved in the launch. The brand confirmed its participation and highlighted the collaboration’s connection to girls’ education.

Founded in 2013, the Malala Fund works to advance every girl’s right to 12 years of free, safe and quality education. Through grantmaking and advocacy, the organisation supports efforts to address the barriers that prevent girls from attending and completing school. Its work includes countries such as Pakistan and Afghanistan, where girls continue to face significant obstacles to education.

According to the organisation’s official overview of girls’ education, poverty, gender discrimination, conflict and inadequate educational resources are among the factors that keep girls out of school.

The collaboration offers Larsson’s fans an opportunity to engage with a cause beyond her music while drawing attention to the global struggle for girls’ education. By connecting a pop-culture name with an established education campaign, the partnership brings the issue of girls’ access to schooling into an unexpected setting.
