Tiffani Thiessen reveals how she feels about daughter Harper embracing her ’90s style
Tiffani Thiessen shares her thoughts on daughter Harper embracing ’90s fashion, from side parts to retro outfits

Tiffani Thiessen has shared her thoughts on the resurgence of ’90s and Y2K fashion trends, revealing how she feels about seeing her 16-year-old daughter, Harper Renn Smith, embrace styles from her own youth.
The Saved by the Bell star, 52, discussed the return of retro fashion during an interview with PEOPLE for The Sitdown, while promoting her new series Coven Academy. Thiessen shares Harper and 11-year-old son Holt with her husband, actor Brady Smith.
The actress said it was “really, really fun” to see ’90s fashion receive renewed attention, particularly as the trends make their way into her teenage daughter’s wardrobe.
Thiessen also revealed which returning styles she enjoys, including zig-zag hair parts, side parts, tiny sunglasses and blazers paired with crop tops. She welcomed the comeback of the unitard, although she joked that she would probably choose darker colours rather than the bright orange version she wore on Saved by the Bell.
“I kind of dig it,” Thiessen said of the zig-zag hair part, adding that the trend could help bring side parts back into fashion after the popularity of middle parts.
However, not every retro hairstyle has won her approval. The actress said modern feathered bangs were fine, but she would prefer to leave behind the heavily teased hairstyles that relied on excessive hairspray.
Thiessen also recalled wearing suspenders with baggy trousers and white sleeveless tops, linking the look to her Long Beach roots. She added that she had heard overalls were returning to fashion, another trend she frequently wore in the past.
Thiessen rose to fame as Kelly Kapowski on Saved by the Bell, which aired from 1989 to 1993. She later played Valerie Malone on Beverly Hills, 90210 from 1994 to 1998.
The actress currently stars as Miss Graves, the head of the magical Crescent Veil Academy, in Coven Academy, which is available on Disney+, Hulu and Freeform on Demand.
