Coal: Pak Steel cargo reaches Port Qasim

KARACHI: A ship carrying 55,000 metric tons of coal for Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) from Australia reached Port Qasim Pakistan Steel Jetty where it’s unloading has started, spokesman of Pakistan Steel said on Thursday. He said that unloading of coal started through the conveyer belt from Port Qasim Jetty to Pakistan Steel raw material stockyard. After unloading, the processing of making coal into metallurgical coke will increase and come into a flow. Another ship carrying 55,000 tons fine iron ore from Iran also arrived at Port Qasim and its unloading will start after the complete unloading of coal, he added. On the other hand the usage of local iron ore from Baluchistan, used in blast furnace as a next option in place of imported iron ore is also going on, he added.
