26 held for cyber fraud, honey trap

LAHORE:

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested 26 people, including 17 women, over suspicion of honey trap and cyber fraud.

Sn official said the women used digital platforms to contact men and allegedly obtained gifts and financial benefits from them. The agency seized 35 mobile phones and two laptops and registered a case.

A raid in Allama Iqbal Town resulted in the arrest of nine men allegedly involved in a call centre targeting foreign citizens with fraudulent offers of mobile phones and communication packages.

Earlier this week, the agency had arrested 39 people during a raid on an alleged illegal call centre operating under the cover of medical billing service.

The NCCIA had also recently raided alleged illegal call centres in Johar Town and Faisal Town.
