LAHORE:

A man allegedly killed his wife and subsequently took his own life in Ichhra, with police registering a murder case on the complaint of the woman's brother who accused the deceased man of subjecting her to domestic violence for around 18 months.

The case was registered at Ichhra police station on the complaint of Muhammad Usman. According to the FIR, Usman said his sister had married Rehan 13 years ago and her husband had started physically abusing her about a year and a half ago. The complainant alleged that Rehan had assaulted his sister on September 30, after which she had remained hospitalised.

He said the family had refrained from taking legal action in an attempt to save the marriage.

The complainant alleged that his sister had previously been subjected to violence by her father-in-law and brother-in-law.

According to the FIR, the family was informed two days ago that the woman and her husband had died. When relatives reached the house, they found that Rehan had shot dead his wife before taking his own life. Police sources said the couple were found dead in their home.
