DSP remanded to police custody for injuring three people

The anti-terrorism court Hyderabad on Thursday remanded a Deputy Superintendent Sindh Police Highway Patrol (SPHP). The official was booked in an FIR for shooting and injuring three men during a clash in the neighbourhood.
The Pinyari police produced DSP Muhammad Ashraf Qureshi before a judge of the ATC carrying out court proceedings in the Central Prison.
They apprised the court that Qureshi has been booked under sections 324, 354 and 504 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) in addition to section 6/7 of Anti Terrorism Act, 1997, on the complaint of Muhammad Waqas Kazi whose brother was critically injured.
According to Kazi, an argument between women of his family and DSP Qureshi started on Wednesday morning when the latter threw off their nephew's motorbike, which was parked outside their house, on the road.
The situation escalated in a fight during which the DSP alleged that the injured assaulted him first and that he opened fire in his self defence. Irshad Fakhruddin Kazi, whose condition is said to be critical, Afaq lshaq Rajput and Kamran Babu Hashmi sustained gunshot injuries in the incident. Kazi was hit in his chest, the passerby Rajpur in his leg and neighbour Hashmi in his back.
