Joint efforts needed to accelerate development

Governor assures businessmen of conveying proposals, concerns to relevant authorities

Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has said that closer cooperation, continuous consultation and joint efforts between the government and the business community can further accelerate the pace of economic development. He said the business community was playing an important role in the national economy and the government was committed to working closely with the private sector to promote industry, trade, investment and exports.

He was speaking to a delegation of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), led by President Ali Hussam Asghar and comprising SVP Sardar Usman Ghani, VP Chaudhry Khadim Hussain and executive committee members. The governor remarked that Lahore's business community was an important partner in Pakistan's economic development. He said that meaningful progress in industry, trade, investment and employment could be achieved when the government and private sector move forward with mutual trust, consultation and cooperation.

He underscored that the Governor House would remain accessible to the business community and he would convey their proposals and concerns to the relevant federal and provincial authorities so that business activities could be further promoted.

Khan called the development of agriculture sector and the prosperity of farmers vital for economic stability. "Strengthening industry and agriculture will not only contribute to economic stability but also help increase exports and create employment opportunities."

Speaking on the occasion, LCCI President Ali Hussam Asghar stressed that the chamber would continue its positive and constructive engagement with the government and make all-out efforts to promote the industry, trade and the national economy.
