Heavy rain, hail disrupt life in K-P
Heavy rain, hail and strong winds disrupted power supplies, flooded roads and damaged crops and property across parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, officials said, with more thunderstorms forecast in the coming days.
Peshawar, the provincial capital, and several other districts were among the worst affected, with rainwater accumulating on roads and in low-lying areas and electricity outages reported in several locations. Authorities said they were assessing the damage, while power restoration efforts were under way.
Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) said 83 feeders tripped during the storm, including 19 in Peshawar, 13 in Khyber, 29 in Mardan, 13 in Swat and nine in Swabi.
Restoration work had begun in areas where the rain had stopped, while repair teams were dispatched to affected areas, PESCO officials said.
