LAHORE:

A special court has imposed a fine worth Rs200 on the Kot Lakhpat station house officer for failing to present required police record despite an order.

Special Court for Control of Narcotic Substances Judge Muhammad Furqan Ahmad, in a written order, held the SHO guilty under Section 175(2) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

He will undergo 15-day imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine.

The court rejected the SHO's explanation for appearing late, as well as his claim that a register had been misplaced after the police station had shifted to a new building.

According to the order, the SHO appeared before the court at 1:25pm and said he was late because of a murder. However, he admitted that no FIR had been registered regarding the incident. The court termed his explanation neither plausible nor reasonable.

The court noted that the official had admitted that the register was missing and had not been recovered after the police station had been shifted.
