RAWALPINDI:

The body of a 23-year-old man, who had left home following an argument with his family, was found hanging from a tree in the Chauntra area, police said on Monday.

A case has been registered and an investigation is under way.

According to police, Muhammad Sadiq told investigators that his unmarried son, Muhammad Ehsan, 23, had a heated argument with his younger brother, Atiqur Rehman alias Subhan, last night. He said he scolded Ehsan, who became angry and left the house. His sisters later tried to calm him down, after which he appeared normal and went outside.

When Ehsan did not return home for some time, the family searched for him but could not find him. The following morning, they found his body hanging from a tree with a noose around his neck. One of his hands had a knot tied to it while a rope was wrapped around the other, with both hands hanging behind his back.

The complainant said the family had no enmity with anyone and expressed uncertainty over whether his son had committed suicide or had been murdered by an unidentified person.

Police said the incident appeared to be a case of suicide. However, a post-mortem examination has been conducted, and the exact cause of death will be determined after the report is received.
