Two get death for killing woman, her daughter

GUJRANWALA:

An Additional Sessions Court has sentenced two men to death for breaking into a house and killing a mother and her daughter with sharp-edged weapons over a property dispute.

Additional Sessions Judge Tariq Bashir handed down the death sentence to Azhar Sajjad and Bilal Ahmed. The court also sentenced each convict to 53 years in prison.

The court ordered the convicts to pay more than Rs23.4 million as diyat and daman to the injured woman, Thobia, wife of complainant Muhammad Imran, who was seriously wounded in the attack.

The court also ordered the convicts to pay a total of Rs2 million in compensation to the heirs of the deceased and imposed a fine of Rs200,000 on each convict.

According to the FIR, the incident took place on Dec 5, 2024, in Jandiala Bagwala in the Sadar police station area.

The accused allegedly entered Imran's house over an ongoing property dispute being heard by civil courts.

The FIR stated that the accused attacked Imran's mother, Sughra Bibi, and sister, Zubia, with sharp-edged weapons, killing both women.

Imran's wife, Thobia, was also seriously injured. One of her arms was severed in the attack, according to the case record.
