PMD forecasts rain, storms across Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Monday forecast rain, windstorms and thunderstorms, with isolated hailstorms, in upper parts of the country from Tuesday (today) to Wednesday (tomorrow) under the influence of a westerly wave.
In Punjab and Islamabad, rain, windstorms and thunderstorms with isolated hailstorms are expected at scattered places in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Faisalabad on October 6 and 7.
In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, similar weather conditions are expected from the night of October 5 through October 7 in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Kohat, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Hangu, Lakki Marwat, Karak, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan and Waziristan.
Rain, windstorms and thunderstorms with isolated hailstorms are also likely at scattered places in Kashmir, including Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur, as well as in Gilgit-Baltistan, including Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche and Shigar, on October 6 and 7.
In Balochistan, mainly hot and dry weather is expected, with rain, windstorms and thunderstorms at isolated places in Zhob, Barkhan and Musakhel during the evening and night of October 6.
Mainly hot and dry weather is likely to persist in Sindh during the coming days.
The PMD cautioned that strong winds, hailstorms and lightning could damage vulnerable structures, including roofs and walls of mud houses, electric poles, billboards, vehicles and solar panels.
