Pakistan unveil T20I and ODI squads for home series

Top-order batsman Sahibzada Farhan has been named as T20 side captain while Shaheen as usual will lead ODI team

Pakistan have named Sahibzada Farhan as captain of their T20 side for the upcoming three-match series against Sri Lanka, while Shaheen Shah Afridi will continue to lead the ODI team in the seven-match tri-series involving Sri Lanka and England, the Pakistan Cricket Board said Monday.

Farhan, who recently captained Pakistan at the Asian Games, will lead the T20 side in the series at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, with the first match scheduled for October 9. The second and third matches will be played on October 11 and 13.

The T20 series will be followed by a seven-match ODI tri-series featuring Pakistan, Sri Lanka and England.

The opening three matches of the tri-series will be played in Rawalpindi before the tournament moves to Lahore for the remaining league fixtures and the final.

The PCB named a 15-member squad for the T20I series, with Farhan joined by Abdul Samad, Abrar Ahmed, Arafat Minhas, Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Nawaz, Muhammad Imran Randhawa, wicketkeeper Khawaja Nafay, Maaz Sadaqat, Naseem Shah, Razaullah, Saim Ayub, Mohammad Salman Mirza, Shadab Khan and Sufiyan Moqim.

The ODI squad contains 16 players and will be led by left-arm fast bowler Shaheen.

The squad includes Abrar, Salman Ali Agha, Arafat Minhas, Babar Azam, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, wicketkeeper Muhammad Ghazi Ghori, Haris Rauf, Hasan Nawaz, Naseem Shah, Razaullah, wicketkeeper Saad Baig, Saim Ayub, Shadab and Sufiyan.

Pakistan will begin their home white-ball assignment with the T20I series against Sri Lanka before turning their attention to the longer ODI tri-series.
