Two brothers die in fire at Shakargarh home
Two minor brothers died after a fire broke out while they were playing in a room on the rooftop of their house in Qasim Pura Kothe Saraiya, on the outskirts of Shakargarh.
According to police, the children were playing in the room where paddy straw was stored.
Preliminary information suggested that the children may have set the straw alight while playing, causing the fire to spread rapidly.
The flames engulfed the two brothers, who suffered severe burns and died at the scene.
The deceased were identified as four-year-old Waleed and three-year-old Arsalan. Police said the children were too young to understand the dangers associated with playing with fire.
SHO Sadar Shakargarh Umar Hayat Goraya said the incident occurred in the Qasim Pura Kothe Saraiya area.
Family members tried to rescue the children after learning about the fire, but they could not save them.
Police reached the scene after being informed and launched an initial investigation.
DSP Shakargarh Rana Sajjad said all aspects of the incident were being investigated.
He said preliminary findings suggested that the fire appeared to have been accidental, while the exact circumstances would become clear after completion of the investigation.
The deaths left the family devastated, while the area was plunged into mourning.
Residents expressed grief over the deaths of the two brothers and extended condolences to their family.
Police said the investigation was continuing to determine how the fire started and the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
