Encroachments continue to spread across Karachi despite repeated directives and claims by the authorities to curb the problem, causing growing difficulties for commuters and pedestrians.
Roadside spaces, service roads and footpaths have increasingly been occupied by businesses and other illegal structures, with major thoroughfares also affected.
The situation has raised questions about the effectiveness of the KMC anti-encroachment department and enforcement measures by deputy commissioners.
According to sources, large-scale encroachments have emerged on roads, footpaths and service lanes in several parts of the city. Residents have expressed concern over reduced road space and worsening traffic conditions.
