Fatal road accidents claim six lives

KARACHI:

Fatal traffic accidents involving heavy vehicles continued in the city, leaving six people dead and a teenager injured in separate road mishaps on Saturday.

In Korangi, a bus hit a motorcycle near Bilal Chowrangi, killing one of two brothers riding the bike and seriously injuring the other. The deceased was identified as 30-year-old Rashid while the injured was identified as 17-year-old Masood. In another incident near New Sabzi Mandi on Superhighway, a pedestrian was killed after being struck by a trailer. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. No documents were found on the body to identify the victim.

On Superhighway near Jamali Bridge, two people, including the driver, were killed when a speeding Suzuki pick up loaded with milk drums overturned.

The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where one of the deceased was identified as 45-year-old Sudhar, while police were making efforts to establish the identity of the other victim.

An elderly woman, identified as 70-year-old Parveen Bibi, was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle while she was crossing the road near Dalmia.

A 12-year-old boy was killed when an unidentified vehicle hit him near the Korangi Causeway on Shahrah-e-Bhutto. His body was shifted to Jinnah Hospital. Identity of the victim could not been established immediately.

In another incident, a 55-year-old motorcyclist was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle near the Drigh Road underpass on Sharea Faisal.
