RAWALPINDI:

Tandoor owners, the Naanbai Association, the Citizens Action Committee and the Sarafa Union have strongly condemned the sharp increase in LPG cylinder prices, saying the public is being burdened by rising fuel and utility costs.

They said after steep increases in petrol, diesel and electricity prices, consumers were now being forced to bear higher LPG costs as well. They complained that gas supply to households was available for only around six hours a day while bills had increased.

With LPG being used as an alternative, a domestic cylinder now costs around Rs5,000, while the price of a commercial cylinder has risen to Rs25,000–26,000.

Naanbai Association President Shafiq Qureshi said commercial cylinders used by tandoors had increased from Rs20,000 to Rs25,000.
