RAWALPINDI:

A nine-year-old boy was allegedly strangled to death by his neighbour near Imtiaz Market in Chakri, within the limits of Naseerabad police station.

The victim was identified as Khurram Ali. Police said the suspect, identified as Kashi, was both the boy's neighbour and relative. The suspect was apparently suffering from a mental health condition and was reportedly taking medication, police said. The motive for the killing is being investigated.

Police said the suspect fled the scene after allegedly killing the child. The incident took place during the night between Thursday and Friday.

Police said the boy's body was handed over to his family after a post-mortem examination. The exact cause of death will be established through the post-mortem report.
