Man held for exhuming graves to sell hair for drugs

VEHARI:

Police claimed to have arrested a man for allegedly exhuming two graves in a cemetery in the Thingi area to remove hair, which he reportedly intended to sell to buy drugs.

According to police, the incident occurred in Chak 62-WB, where the suspect, identified as Waheed Ahmed, allegedly dug up two graves of a couple who had died around three years ago.

Police said the suspect, who was allegedly addicted to ice (crystal methamphetamine), intended to sell the hair recovered from the graves to arrange money for drugs.

According to sources, the graves were dug up at Tibba Wala graveyard during the night. The incident was reported to Thingi police, who arrested the suspect and registered a case.

The complainant, Muhammad Hanif, told police that the two graves belonged to his parents and had allegedly been desecrated after being dug up.

Police registered FIR No. 693/26 under Section 297 of the Pakistan Penal Code and launched an investigation.

Police said all aspects of the incident were being examined and the suspect was being questioned to determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged desecration and the intended sale of the hair.
