PESHAWAR:
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to launch its long march from Lakki Marwat on Oct 4, with the procession scheduled to reach Peshawar on Oct 6.
According to the schedule, the first stopover will be in Karak on Oct 4, followed by a second stop in Kohat on Oct 5. The caravans will then leave Kohat for Peshawar on Oct 6.
PTI leaders said the march would be led by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, who is expected to depart from Gandi Chowk in Lakki Marwat at 1pm on Oct 4.
Caravans from Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, South Waziristan and Bannu will first converge in Lakki Marwat before joining the march.
PTI's parliamentary party leader in the National Assembly Shahid Khattak and Information Minister Shafi Jan said Chief Minister Afridi would lead the march. Former chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur is also expected to join the procession.
The march is being organised to press for the acceleration of hearings in cases against PTI founder Imran Khan, his treatment at Shifa International Hospital and an end to restrictions on meetings with him.
The chief minister is expected to issue the detailed schedule of the march on Friday (today) and brief members of the provincial assembly, party office-bearers and affiliated organisations.
