Dressmaker developer Ruan Rothmann has said he “couldn’t be more proud” of the game’s reception after the sewing and fashion title attracted more than 35,000 concurrent players on Steam.

Released on September 21, Dressmaker has climbed Steam’s top sellers chart, reaching seventh place according to the supplied report.

The game’s performance has also surprised Rothmann, who previously worked on titles including Broforce and GORN.

“I used to be worried that I peaked way too early in my career. Now it seems I may have peaked with a dressmaking game,” Rothmann wrote via X.

He later added, “For the record, Dressmaker is awesome, and I couldn’t be more proud.”

Dressmaker reached its current all-time player peak on September 27, when more than 35,000 players were logged into the game.

The title has also received an ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ rating on Steam, with more than 4,000 reviews at the time of reporting.

The game allows players to create their own garments, with its fashion-focused gameplay attracting attention from Steam users and fans online.

Several players responded to Rothmann’s post, discussing the appeal of the title and its connection to his earlier work.

One commenter wrote, “Dressmaker scratches an itch that a lot of people either don’t know they had, or couldn’t scratch for the longest time. Very good game.”
