The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered has surpassed 120,000 concurrent players on Steam, setting a new all-time record for the game within hours of its release.

The remastered version reached a peak of 120,975 concurrent Steam players at 3am JST on September 30, according to SteamDB.

The game launched at 7pm on September 29, meaning it reached the new record roughly eight hours after release.

The previous record for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was 103,329 concurrent players, recorded in January 2020 following the premiere of Netflix’s The Witcher. The original game reached around 92,000 concurrent players at launch in 2015.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered features updated visuals, performance improvements and gameplay changes.

CD Projekt Red announced the remaster at Gamescom, saying it wanted the game to feel like a 2026 release.

Existing owners can receive the remastered version as a free update on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, although the Switch 2 version requires a separate purchase according to the supplied information.

The updated PC requirements begin with an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600 processor alongside a GTX 1660 graphics card. Higher specifications are required for the game’s full path tracing experience, with an RTX 5080 listed at the top end.

The Steam figures do not include players on other platforms. The remastered edition is also available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, GOG and Battle.net, meaning its overall player count across platforms is not publicly represented by Steam’s figures.
