LESCO executive engineer shot dead

SHEIKHUPURA:

An executive engineer (XEN) of Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) was shot dead by unidentified motorcyclists near Kala Shah Kaku on GT Road on Wednesday.

According to initial reports, Rab Yar, was travelling from Muridke to his residence in Lahore's Askari-IX after duty when unidentified assailants opened fire on his vehicle. He died at the scene, while the attackers fled.

District Police Officer Sheikhupura Bilal Zafar Sheikh reached the scene along with police personnel after being informed of the incident. Police collected evidence and began legal proceedings.

According to LESCO sources, XEN had been seeking his transfer from Muridke for around one and a half months and had also met local political figures in this regard. Sources said he had told his subordinate staff on Wednesday that his transfer would likely be completed within two to three days.

Police said the motive for the shooting had not yet been established, although the incident appeared to be linked to a personal enmity.

Police said further investigation was under way to identify the attackers and determine the motive behind the killing.
