Murree van fire victim dies

An 11-year-old girl injured and badly burned in the Murree school van accident died at Holy Family Hospital on Wednesday, while two of the three other children undergoing treatment were reported to be in critical condition.
On Tuesday, a Suzuki Bolan school van carrying students fell into a deep ravine in Murree and caught fire, injuring 11 children. Seven children were shifted to Civil Hospital Murree, while four seriously injured children were brought to Holy Family Hospital, Rawalpindi.
At Holy Family Hospital, 14-year-old Ayesha had suffered burns to 45 per cent of her body. She succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday despite efforts by doctors.
Her 11-year-old brother Abdullah, suffered burns to five per cent of his body, while eight-year-old Arham sustained burns to 60 per cent of his body. Another eight-year-old child, Hassan suffered burns to 28 per cent of his body. All three remain under treatment.
HFH Medical Superintendent Dr Ijaz Butt said Ayesha could not survive despite the doctors' best efforts, while two of the other injured children remained in critical condition.
