Sophia Bush and Ashlyn Harris reveal they secretly married in an intimate upstate New York ceremony in 2025

Sophia Bush and former professional soccer player Ashlyn Harris have revealed that they secretly married in an intimate ceremony in upstate New York in summer 2025.

Bush, 44, shared details of the private wedding in her upcoming memoir, And I Will Tell You Mine: Notes from a Life in Progress, which is set to be released on October 27. The couple also discussed their marriage with Vogue on September 30.

Harris, 40, and Bush were joined by Harris’ children, Sloane and Ocean, for the low-key celebration. According to the couple, the family picked flowers from the property and later roasted marshmallows together.

Bush explained that keeping the wedding private allowed them to avoid the pressure often associated with public celebrations. Harris similarly recalled that the children were able to enjoy the day without feeling overwhelmed.

Following the ceremony, Bush and Harris travelled around the country to tell their family and close friends about their marriage in person. Bush said she eventually felt ready to make their relationship public after becoming tired of describing Harris as her “partner”.

“You’re my wife,” Bush recalled telling Harris, describing the moment as meaningful.

Bush and Harris were first linked in October 2023, and Bush publicly confirmed their relationship in a 2024 Glamour cover story. Before marrying Harris, Bush was married to Chad Michael Murray from 2005 to 2006 and Grant Hughes from 2022 to 2024.

In her memoir, Bush also reflects on her decision to embrace marriage again and finding inspiration in Harris’ grandparents’ long-lasting relationship.

Harris said the couple’s decision to share their relationship publicly was also connected to the importance of LGBTQ+ visibility, particularly for young people who may not feel represented.
