Macklemore’s Dublin 'Free Palestine' tour date sells out within minutes

Macklemore’s Dublin date on his Free Palestine Tour has completely sold out, with fans reporting that tickets for the October concert disappeared within minutes of going on sale.

The rapper is scheduled to perform at Dublin’s 3Arena on October 26 as part of the newly announced tour, which comes weeks after he was removed from the remaining US dates of Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour following his public support for Palestine. Fans on social media reported that tickets for the Dublin show sold out within five minutes after going on sale at 10am.

The Dublin concert was announced last week alongside dates in Paris and London. Macklemore is due to perform at Paris’ Accor Arena on October 29 before heading to London’s OVO Arena Wembley on October 30.

The rapid sell-out prompted some fans to express frustration online, with several saying they were high in the queue when sales opened but were unable to secure tickets. Two presales had taken place earlier in the week, including one for fans who signed up through Macklemore’s website and another through the Three+ app.

The new tour follows Macklemore’s departure from Sheeran’s US tour after he used performances at two venues to advocate for Palestinians. Sheeran later said that the decision to remove Macklemore was made by the tour promoter after venues hosting upcoming shows indicated they would not allow the rapper to perform.

Several artists subsequently withdrew from Sheeran’s remaining US dates in solidarity with Macklemore, including Irish acts Aaron Rowe and Beoga, as well as Finneas and Danish band Lukas Graham.

Macklemore has said that the Free Palestine Tour will use its proceeds to support organisations working with Palestinians. The Dublin concert's listed beneficiaries include Anera, Gaza Soup Kitchen, HEAL Palestine, Medical Aid for Palestinians, the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, Jewish Voice for Peace and UNRWA USA.

The rapper previously announced that he would donate $1 million in net earnings from his Sheeran tour appearances to organisations supporting Palestinians.

With the Dublin show now sold out, Macklemore’s new tour has generated significant demand ahead of its first announced European dates. Further shows and additional artists are expected to be announced as the tour develops.
