Aashir Wajahat's 'Sadqay' crosses 100 million streams on Spotify

Milestone gives the singer renewed confidence after he opened up about his fears before releasing the 2024 hit

Singer and actor Aashir Wajahat is celebrating a major milestone in his music career as Sadqay crosses 100 million streams on Spotify — a figure that has given new meaning to the insecurities he felt before releasing the song.

Wajahat took to Instagram to mark the achievement with a series of photographs capturing the people and memories connected to the song’s journey. Among them were pictures with his brother and fellow artist Nayel Wajahat and singer Nehaal Naseem, his collaborators on Sadqay.

The carousel also featured a childhood photograph of Aashir and Nayel dressed as Superman and Batman. The throwback offered a glimpse of the brothers long before they began making music together, adding a nostalgic touch to a milestone centred on one of their biggest collaborations.

Reflecting on the song’s journey, Aashir opened up about the uncertainty he felt before releasing it. “100 million streams on Spotify. I remember having my insecurities and fears before releasing this track,” he wrote, admitting that he did not know “how it would perform or if people would connect with it.”

The response to Sadqay eventually gave him the reassurance he needed. Wajahat said the song taught him that “when a piece of art comes straight from the heart with the purest of intentions it will make its way to the hearts of everyone it finds”.

Released in 2024, Sadqay brought together Aashir, Nayel and Nehaal Naseem. The collaboration became one of the standout releases in Aashir’s growing music catalogue and has now crossed the 100 million-stream mark on Spotify.

The singer used the occasion to thank the listeners who helped take the track to the milestone. “Thank you to everyone for tuning in and giving strength to a young scared artist like me to continue what I love. Love to everyone involved in this project who made it possible,” he wrote.

For Wajahat, however, the significance of Sadqay appears to extend beyond the streaming figure. The song has also changed how he sees himself as an artist. “I feel more confident about my craft than I’ve ever felt,” he wrote. He ended his message with a declaration of intent: “I’m locked in.”

The sentiment marks a clear contrast with the uncertainty he described before the song’s release. What began with fears over whether listeners would connect with the track has since become a milestone that has strengthened his confidence in his work.

Wajahat has grown up in Pakistan’s entertainment industry. The son of filmmaker Wajahat Rauf and producer Shazia Wajahat, he began his career at a young age before establishing himself across acting and music.

His acting credits include films such as Karachi Se Lahore, Lahore Se Aagey and Chhalawa, as well as television projects including Pinjra.

Over the years, music has become an increasingly important part of his career, with releases including Naazni, Distant, Dheema Dheema and Tumse Main Mila, among others.

His collaboration with Nayel and Nehaal on Sadqay has proved particularly significant, with the song becoming a defining release in his musical journey.

In 2026, he appeared in the drama Kafeel, where he played Subuk alongside Sanam Saeed and Emmad Irfani. He later reunited with Kafeel co-star Areeka Haq for the music video of his single Beqadra, bringing their on-screen pairing into another project.

His recent work has continued along a dual path, with acting on screen alongside a steadily expanding catalogue of music.
