Two children critical after Murree van fire

Four of the 11 children injured in a school van accident in Murree were shifted to Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi, where two were in critical condition, sources said on Tuesday. Two siblings were among the children who suffered burn injuries, as doctors battled to save their lives, they added.

Rawalpindi Commissioner Salman Ghani and Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Nasir visited the injured children at Holy Family Hospital and directed the authorities to ensure that they receive the best possible treatment.

The accident occurred in Mohra Bara Hotar, Murree, where a Suzuki Bolan school van fell into a deep ravine and caught fire, leaving 11 children injured and several badly burned. Seven children were shifted to Civil Hospital Murree, while four were referred to Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi.

Of the four children admitted to Holy Family Hospital, Ayesha, 14, suffered burns over 45 per cent of her body; her 11-year-old brother Abdullah sustained burns over five per cent of his body; Arham, 8, suffered burns over 60 per cent of his body, and Hassan, 8, sustained burns over 28 per cent of his body.
