ATC extends PTI leaders' remand

LAHORE:

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday sent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Falak Javed to jail on 14-day judicial remand in the Jinnah House attack case, while extending the physical remand of PTI leader Hammad Azhar by seven days in the same case.

Police produced Falak Javed before the court after completion of her physical remand and sought further custody to continue the investigation. The investigating officer told the court that forensic examination of her social media accounts and mobile phone was required.

Her counsel opposed the request for an extension in physical remand. The court later rejected the police request and sent Falak Javed to jail on judicial remand for 14 days, directing that she be produced before the court after completion of the remand period.

In the case of Hammad Azhar, police produced him before ATC Judge Manzer Ali Gill after completion of his previous physical remand.
