Rs10m worth of gold looted in house robbery

Four armed robbers allegedly entered a house in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, held the women residents hostage and fled with gold jewellery worth more than Rs10 million and over Rs760,000 in cash, police said.

The robbers also allegedly subjected the women to physical violence to intimidate them during the robbery, according to the police.

Gulshan-i-Iqbal police registered a case under Sections 397 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code against four unidentified suspects on the complaint of the house owner, Tahir Mahmood.

In his statement to police, the complainant said he ran a private business and left his home in Block 2 in the morning on Monday for work. At noon, his daughter, Maryam, called him and informed him that the house had been robbed.

According to the FIR, the suspects entered the house at around 10:35am. They allegedly assaulted the women present and took three gold jewellery sets, earrings and a chain weighing around 40 tolas, along with Rs760,000 kept in a drawer.

The complainant said he returned home after receiving the information and, after speaking to his family members, approached the police to report the incident.
