Rahat Fateh Ali Khan praises Diljit Dosanjh’s rendition of Nusrat classic

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has praised Indian Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh for his rendition of his uncle, legendary qawwali singer Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s classic Sanson Ki Maala.

Speaking at an exclusive meet-and-greet in Toronto on Sunday, Khan was asked about Dosanjh’s performance of the iconic song.

He applauded the Punjabi star for taking on a Nusrat classic, noting that many artists may hesitate to perform songs associated with the late qawwali maestro.

Dosanjh performed Sanson Ki Maala on September 12 at Wembley Stadium in London as part of his AURA World Tour, becoming the first Punjabi artist to headline the iconic venue.

One fan who attended the Wembley show wrote, “I had goosebumps watching this live in Wembley, absolutely amazing concert. Can this version be released on Spotify soon?”

Another commented, “What were you thinking when you decided to recreate this masterpiece? Goosebumps!!!”
