Patients preferring govt hospitals: CM

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that a significant increase in patient attendance has been witnessed at public sector hospitals across the province.

A report on patient attendance and treatment at the hospitals was presented in a meeting of the specialised healthcare and medical education department chaired by the chief minister.

She said patient registration at major government tertiary care hospitals had increased along with OPD, IPD and emergency cases. The chief minister also noted an increase in the cases of cardiology and surgery dealt by the hospitals. The number of paediatric, dermatology and ENT patients has also increased.

The chief minister said over 2.1 million parcels of cancer and cardiac medicines had been delivered to patients.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stated in her message on World Tourism Day that the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation's recognition of Lahore as the tourism and cultural capital this year was a welcome development. She said all possible resources would be utilised for promoting tourism in the province. Sustainable measures were being taken to promote religious tourism in the province, she added.
