Zoe Saldaña says 'Lioness' is enough for now, explaining why she is not ready to join another Taylor Sheridan series

Zoe Saldaña has said she is not ready to join another Taylor Sheridan series, explaining that her work on Lioness already requires a significant time commitment.

The actress, who stars as CIA operative Joe McNamara and serves as an executive producer on the Paramount+ series, discussed her workload in a recent interview with PEOPLE.

“I think that Joe McNamara and Lioness is all that I can handle at this time,” Saldaña said when asked about appearing in another show from Sheridan’s television universe.

Saldaña explained that her responsibilities begin months before filming, while her position as the lead actor means she is typically first on set and among the last to leave.

“I’m number one on the call sheet. I am first one in, last one out,” she said. “I can’t imagine me taking on more of a Taylor Sheridan world.”

The actress said she appreciates Sheridan’s approach to creating complex characters and praised his ability to write roles that are not restricted by gender or race.

Saldaña also discussed the possibility of Lioness season 4, although she said she does not know whether the series will return or what direction Sheridan could take Joe’s story.

Season 3 placed Joe in a more vulnerable position after she became a target and had to escape herself. Saldaña described the storyline as demanding but said she was proud of how the character’s journey developed.

Her Lioness costar Michael Kelly has expanded his role in Sheridan’s universe, joining the cast of Landman season 3. Saldaña joked that if Lioness returns, Kelly’s role as Byron Westfield should remain a priority.
