Arrest warrants issued for CDA chief

ISLAMABAD:

A civil court on Friday issued bailable arrest warrants for the chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) over his repeated failure to appear before the court despite being summoned. Civil Judge Naseeruddin issued the warrants while hearing an application seeking implementation of a civil court decree.

Barrister Adil Aziz Qazi, Advocate Hasnain Haider Thaheem and Advocate Sanaullah Kakar appeared before the court on behalf of the petitioners. They submitted that despite the CDA acquiring their land, the affected people had not been provided the benefits available under the rehabilitation and resettlement policy even after 28 years.

The counsel maintained that the court's decree had not been fully implemented and urged the court to ensure its complete execution. During the proceedings, the CDA chairman failed to appear for the third consecutive time despite repeated court notices.

Taking notice of his continued absence, the court issued bailable arrest warrants for the CDA chairman and directed the relevant authorities to ensure implementation of the decree. The court subsequently adjourned the hearing.
